Kevin Bruce Harris - Bassist Kevin a New Yorker with Dominican roots , is not only a very talented and skilled bassist but also a performer and composer. During his career he has traveled the world performing and recording with some of the top Jazz Artists in the world, such as Cassandra Wilson, and with Steve Coleman and Harry Sokal in European , Japanese and African Tours. He also performed at the CJW Jazz Club in Shanghai,China. His travels and performing around the world had an impact on his life experiences which we can hear flowing thru his unique style of playing. Kevin has recorded his own compositions on the recordings titled “FOLKSONGS/FOLK TALES and 'AND THEY WALKED AMONGST THE PEOPLE” released by Tip Toe Records.
Arturo Prendez was born in Montevideo,Uruguay, a self-taught musician, as with so many others, Arturo’s initial musical influence came from his father and grandfather, well known musicians in Uruguay. He started his carrier as a professional percussionist at the age of 17 , playing brazilian music at the Hotel Savoy in Buenos Aires. In 1986 Arturo emigrated to the US , performing with several groups in addition to studio recording work. Since settling in New Jersey , he is in demand as a recording musician and as a performer of candombe. He has performed and recorded with numerous international artists such as, Hugo Fattoruso, Oscar Feldman,Hiram Bullock, Yabor, Chico Novarro, Ruben Blades ,Ruben Rada, Tahna Running, Bakithi Kumalo, Guadalupe Reventos. Most recently, Arturo has performed and recorded with Mario Cazeneuve ,this recording features several compositions that are rooted in the Uruguayan rhythms of "Candombe", which showcase his abilities as a Master Candombe drummer.Type your paragraph here.
Mario Cazeneuve - Keyboards and Composer A native of Montevideo, Uruguay, Mario studied classical music at the Conservatory Johannes Brahms in Montevideo. He was part of the Uruguayan Rock Cultural movement. Mario moved to NY to continue his musical career, he worked as musical director in NYC and performed in the pit band of several musical Broadway shows, and Jazz Festivals, most recently at Forever Tango, Flint Jazz Festival and Long Beach Jazz Festival. Living and working in New York City as a musician, Mario broadened his interests to include Jazz, & Cuban music, which is shown in the original compositions, at the early stages of Afro-Dysia's repertoire. His music has evolved and we can see the return to his roots with the rhythm of candombe in the new repertoire. His original compositions " Te estremeces and Pa' Delante" are featured on The CD "Dharma". Other CD recordings are "A mi Tierra " , " De mi punto de vista ", "Con un mate en la mano" and he has a couple of more recording projects in the works " Resolution" and the latest candombe project "Tambores en New York "with Afro-dysia due in 2016.
Erika Cazeneuve, first generation Uruguayan- American is a true New Yorker. A Tisch NYU and LAMDA graduate. She also studied musical, classical & physical Theatre at RADA, London, DUOC, Chile & Istanbul Univerisity ,Turkey. Erika's love of performing began at an early age and she is following her father foots steps into the art world. She is an accomplished actress with memorable credits Storytime with Mr. Buttermen (NY Fringe), A Shot in the Dark (ATA), and Ser o No Cervantes (Revolución Latina) . Alejandro Fernandez aka "El Chato" was born in Montevideo, Uruguay into a family with deep roots in the Uruguayan Carnaval and Candombe. During his professional carreer he toured with well renowned Candombe musicians such as, Ruben Rada and Osvaldo Fattoruso. He traveled to Chile and Argentina with Candombe for Export and he recorded "Candombe Puro" with with Eduardo Da Luz. El Chato has a long history in the Uruguayan Carnaval and playing Candombe, during his trajectory he has been recognized for his performances as a percussionist, as well as a traditional Candombe dancer the " Escobillero". Alejandro emigrated to New York, where he continues his family tradition of performing candombe. He performed with groups such as Lubolos Macu an Eduardo Da Luz. Cecilia Tenconi is a multitalented saxophone, flute and clarinet player, as well as a vocalist and composer. She holds a BA from Berklee College of Music and an MA from City College of New York. Her credits include live performances, recordings and tours with an array of internationally acclaimed stars, from the Latin, Jazz and Pop Music worlds, such as Ray Barretto, Chico O’Farrill Big Band, Diva, Tania Maria, Arrow, David Kikoski, Eddy Martinez, Herbie Mann, Manhattan Transfer, Bette Midler, Frank Colon, Patato Valdez and Vickie Sue Robinson. She has traveled the world, performing at some of the best known music festivals, including, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Stockholm Water Festival in Sweden, Festival Musique de Rue in Nimes, France, St Kitts Music Festival in St Kitts, Standard Bank Jazz Festival in South Africa and the King’s Palace in Morocco.Type your paragraph here.
